Cologne Bonn Airport serves, as the name implies, the west German cities of Cologne and Bonn, and is located roughly halfway between the two. Bus connections from the airport, operated by SWB, therefore primarily provide links to these two cities’ central bus stations. However, longer-distance bus travel is possible from Cologne city centre via Flixbus; flying to Cologne Bonn Airport and then getting a Flixbus service can prove to be a cost-effective option for reaching your desired destination. These destinations include the neighbouring cities of Frankfurt and Dusseldorf, as well as cities in Belgium such as historic Liege.
Cologne Airport to Cologne Porz Markt by KVB
A bus transfer from Cologne Airport to the Porz Markt (the main train station in Cologne), taking 15 minutes, on the 161 Bus. Line 161 will display the Köln/Bonn Flughafen, Grengel, Urbach and Porz Markt sign at the front of the bus. There are three bus stops in the airport complex, first outside the terminal building, then at the air cargo depot, then at the administration buildings, after which the Cologne airport buses stop a Grengel Mauspfad, Waldstr./Akazienweg, Antoniusstr., Urbach Waldstr., Urbach Kaiserstr., Feuerwache (fire station), Celsiusstr., Train Station/Bahnhof Porz, Klingerstr. and Porz Markt. The journey only takes 15 minutes to complete and even on Sundays there is a service starting at 5.30 am running until 11.30 pm from Porz Markt. For onward transport into Cologne city centre, take the No. 7 on the S-Bahn.
